Similar to other forms of therapy, Ketamine assisted psychotherapy is not a “quick fix,” even though some individuals have found a single experience to be profound and transformative. We will have multiple sessions before your KAP experience, to facilitate an open, curious mindset, and assists with the integration process. After your experience, the integration process takes advantage of the neuroplasticity window created from the medicine to support personal discovery, growth, and lasting change.
Ketamine is one of the most extensively studied psychedelic medicines. It’s on the WHO’s list of top 10 essential medicines. It is used in pediatrics due to with a high safety profile and can be found in every hospital around the world. Ketamine is a legal, safe, and effective medicine with rapid antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects, often noticeable within hours and can last for weeks. As a mental health treatment, ketamine is unlike the typical antidepressants, it helps by targeting the neurotransmitter glutamate, which influences mood and thought pattern development. It promotes neuroplasticity—the brain's ability to form new connections and deeper understandings. This process gives the brain a "reset," the opportunity to develop new ways of thinking.
Ketamine is generally very safe but not suitable for everyone (e.g., those with uncontrolled high blood pressure, specific medical conditions, or certain personality disorders). Journey Clinical conducts a thorough screening process to ensure safety, and if needed, works with your other doctors or medical professionals.

Dosing experiential session - the typical dosing session lasts 2 to 3 hours and will take place virtually. During a dosing session, you will self-administer your ketamine lozenge at your home with an identified chaparone. You will be in a comfortable reclining position, wearing an eye mask, and listening to a playlist of curated instrumental music. Although a KAP dosing session may be largely an internal experience, I will be present with you the entire time to hold space and provide support as needed.

Integration session - After our KAP dosing session, we will meet for multiple integration therapy sessions to review the memories, create art, and explore the insights that arose during your dosing session. Integration sessions will always occur in after a dosing session.
